HR-01 Pre-Installation Note
Understanding default pre-installation for HR-01 editions.
⏱️ Read Time: 2 minutes
Overview
🔶 HR01-2 Edition and 🔷 HR01-4 Edition systems ship with compute nodes already installed.
This is a brief reference note explaining what was completed by default. You do not need to perform these installation steps.
What Was Pre-Installed
By default
Your HR-01 edition EDC was assembled and tested before shipping:
Compute nodes:
- HR-01 Edge Server nodes mounted in compute drawer
- Securely fastened with appropriate hardware
- Positioned and aligned for optimal cooling
Power connections:
- Power cables connected from PDU to each node
- Power harnesses routed and secured
- Cable management completed
Network connections:
- Ethernet cables connected from switch to each node
- RJ45 connections: 2× per node
- SFP+ connections: 2× per node (HR-01 models)
- Cables routed via keystone panel
- All connections labeled
System testing:
- Power-on test performed
- Network connectivity verified
- Basic functionality confirmed
- System powered down for shipping
What You Should Know
Component Layout
HR01-2 Edition:
- 2× HR-01 Edge Server nodes in compute drawer
- Nodes labeled 1 and 2
- Identical mounting and connection method
HR01-4 Edition:
- 4× HR-01 Edge Server nodes in compute drawer
- Nodes labeled 1, 2, 3, and 4
- High-density configuration
Access:
- Open front lid to view compute drawer
- Pull drawer handle to slide out for inspection
- Do not remove nodes unless performing service

Physical Installation Details
If you need to understand the physical installation (for future service or replacements):
Mounting:
- HR-01 nodes mount similarly to NUC installation
- Larger form factor (full-depth servers vs compact NUCs)
- Secured with mounting screws
- Cooling clearances maintained
Power:
- Each node connects to PDU via power cable
- PDU outlets numbered and labeled
- Power distribution pre-balanced
Network:
- 2× RJ45 connections per node (to switch ports)
- 2× SFP+ connections per node (with copper transceivers included)
- Pre-wired through keystone panel on rear
- All keystone jacks labeled for tracing
Process is similar to NUC installation with adaptations for HR-01 form factor. See NUC Installation for general installation concepts (mounting, cabling method, etc.).
When You Might Need This Information
Service Scenarios
You might need to understand the installation if:
Component replacement:
- Failed HR-01 node needs replacement
- Upgrading to higher-capacity node
- Warranty service required
Troubleshooting:
- Inspecting connections
- Verifying proper installation
- Diagnosing hardware issues
Differences from NUC Installation
Key differences between HR-01 and NUC editions:
| Aspect | NUC Edition | HR-01 Editions |
|---|---|---|
| Shipping state | Nodes NOT installed | Nodes PRE-installed |
| Node count | 3× NUCs | 2× or 4× HR-01 servers |
| Form factor | Compact NUC | Higher storage and compute capacity servers |
| Installation required | Yes (partner/technical user) | No (by default complete) |
| Power connections | 3× cables | 2× or 4× cables |
| Network connections | 2× RJ45 per node | 2× RJ45 + 2× SFP+ per node |
| Cooling | Passive + EDC fans | Active (server fans) + EDC fans |
